Polyester fiber has good light resistance for the following reasons:
1. stability of molecular structure: the molecular chain of polyester fiber contains benzene ring structure, which has high conjugation stability, can absorb and scatter ultraviolet rays, and reduce the damage of ultraviolet rays to the molecular chain. At the same time, the ester group (-coo-) in the polyester molecular chain forms a conjugate system with the benzene ring, which further enhances the stability of the molecular structure and makes it difficult to break and degrade the chemical bond under light conditions.
2. high crystallinity: polyester fibers usually have high crystallinity, and the molecular chains in the crystallization region are closely arranged and regular. This compact structure makes the light scattering and reflection phenomenon relatively less when propagating inside the fiber, reducing the direct effect of light on the fiber. At the same time, the crystal structure also improves the force between the fiber molecules, making it more difficult for the fiber to move and deform the molecular chain when exposed to light, so as to maintain good physical properties and chemical stability.
3. protective effect of additives: in the production process of polyester fiber, some additives such as light resistant agent and ultraviolet absorber are usually added. These additives can preferentially absorb ultraviolet rays and convert them into heat energy or other harmless forms of energy, so as to avoid the direct effect of ultraviolet rays on the molecular chain of polyester fiber, protect the fiber and improve the light resistance.
