What are the industrial applications of composite spun fibers

The core application of composite spun fibers in the industrial field relies on the advantage of "multi characteristic integration", adapting to high requirements for material functionality and durability in scenarios such as filtration, protection, and engineering construction, covering the following major directions:
1. Field of filtration and separation
The ultrafine structure and controllable material of composite spun fibers make them the core choice for efficient filtration materials, which can accurately intercept impurities of different particle sizes:
Air filtration: Sea island composite spun fibers (such as PET/PA sea island fibers) are used to dissolve "marine" and form ultrafine fibers, which are then made into filter cloth or filter cartridge for use in air purifiers and industrial dust removal equipment. They can intercept PM2.5 and dust particles with a filtration efficiency of over 99.9%.
Liquid filtration: Filter bags are made of skin core composite spun fibers (such as PP skin layer+PE core layer). The skin layer provides acid and alkali resistance, while the core layer ensures strength and is suitable for filtering chemical wastewater and food processing wastewater. It can intercept suspended solids, colloids, and other impurities, and is easy to clean and reusable.
Oil water separation: By combining hydrophobic materials (such as PTFE) with hydrophilic materials (such as PET) through a composite spinning process, a hydrophobic and oleophilic fiber membrane is made for the treatment of oily wastewater. It can quickly separate oil and water phases with a separation efficiency of over 98%.
2. Protection and safety field
By combining different functional materials, composite spun fibers can meet protection requirements such as flame retardancy, puncture resistance, and chemical corrosion resistance
Flame retardant protection: Using skin core composite spun fibers (such as flame-retardant PET skin layer+high-strength PA core layer), industrial protective clothing and fireproof curtains are made. The flame-retardant components of the skin layer can prevent the spread of flames, and the core layer ensures the strength of the fabric, making it suitable for high-temperature work scenarios such as chemical and metallurgical industries.
Chemical protection: Chemical resistant fluoropolymers (such as PVDF) are combined with breathable PET to make chemical resistant clothing fabrics, which can resist the erosion of acid, alkali, and organic solvents, and achieve breathability through fiber gaps, reducing the wearer's stuffiness.
Safety protection: Use parallel composite spun fibers (such as high-strength polyester and elastic PU) to make seat belts. The fibers have both high strength (with a breaking strength of 5cN/dtex or more) and a certain degree of elasticity, which can cushion external forces and reduce the risk of breakage when impacted.
3. Engineering and Construction Fields
The mechanical properties and environmental adaptability of composite spun fibers enable them to replace traditional materials and enhance the stability and durability of engineering structures
Geosynthetics: Geotextiles are made from skin core composite spun fibers (such as PP skin layer+fiberglass core layer). The skin layer is resistant to aging and ultraviolet radiation, and the core layer enhances tensile strength. They are used for roadbed reinforcement and dam seepage prevention, reducing soil settlement and extending the service life of the project.
Building material reinforcement materials: Composite spun fibers (such as carbon fiber/PA composite fibers) are mixed into concrete or plastic to make reinforced building materials, which are used in the production of pipelines and plates. They can improve the crack resistance and compressive strength of materials and reduce the cost of traditional steel reinforcement.
Waterproof membrane: Composite spun fibers (such as PET/PE composite fibers) are used as the base material for the waterproof membrane. The fiber layer provides support strength, and the surface composite waterproof coating (such as SBS modified asphalt) is suitable for roof and basement waterproofing. It has strong weather resistance and is not easy to crack.
4. Transportation field
In response to the demand for lightweight and high-strength materials in transportation scenarios, composite spun fibers can be used for component manufacturing and interior materials
Automotive materials: The car air filter is made of island type composite spun fibers, and the ultra-fine fibers improve the filtration accuracy; Using composite spun fibers (such as PET/PP composite fibers) to make car carpets, it has both wear-resistant (over 100000 wear cycles) and flame-retardant properties, and is 30% lighter in weight than traditional wool carpets.
Aerospace materials: High performance composite spun fibers (such as aramid/carbon fiber composite fibers) are used to make spacecraft interior fabrics or structural reinforcements. The fibers have high temperature resistance (able to withstand over 200 ℃), low smoke characteristics, and meet aviation safety standards.
