Core insulation mechanism
1. Storage of still air: Polyester fibers themselves have a low density, and a large number of tiny gaps will form between fibers or inside fibers (such as hollow polyester fibers). These gaps can lock in air, which is a poor conductor of heat and can reduce the loss of body heat through air convection.
2. Fiber structure blocks conduction: The molecular structure of polyester fibers is dense, and the efficiency of heat conduction inside the fibers is low. At the same time, when the fibers are distributed in a fluffy shape, they can form multiple layers of barriers, further reducing the speed of heat loss through thermal conduction.
3. Low water absorption reduces heat dissipation: Polyester fibers have a lower water absorption rate (only 0.4%) and will not become wet after absorbing body sweat like fibers such as cotton and wool. Moist fabrics can accelerate heat evaporation and loss, while polyester fibers maintain their dry properties, which can avoid this problem and continue to maintain warmth.
