What is the essential difference between composite spun fibers and ordinary blended fibers

source:www.kingcharmgroup.com  |  Release time:2026-09-08
Core essence: The binding positions of the two components are different
      Composite spun fibers: The same single filament contains two types of polymers inside;
Ordinary blended fiber: Two completely independent single fibers are physically mixed together, with each fiber still being a single component.
1. Composite spun fibers (two-component composite spun)
By using a composite spinning spinneret, two types of melts are compounded and extruded in the spinneret holes, resulting in the presence of both A and B polymers inside a single fiber, such as skin core, parallel, sea island, and fragmented structures.
At the molecular level, two types of polymers are distributed in a fixed cross-section within a single filament, belonging to single filament composite.
Example: ES skin core fiber, with an outer layer of PE and an inner layer of PP; sea island fiber, with thousands of islands distributed in the sea within a single filament.
Performance: Can achieve thermal bonding, spontaneous curling, and ultrafine splitting; The performance comes from the cross-sectional structure of the fiber itself.
Separation method: The two components can only be separated by chemical dissolution (sea island dissolution) or external tearing (cracking).
2. Ordinary blended fibers
Two different types of finished short fibers, mechanically stirred and mixed after opening; Each fiber has only one raw material, but a large amount of A fiber and B fiber are mixed together.
Molecular level: Physical blending between fibers, belonging to the mixing between fibers.
Example: Polyester cotton blend, where polyester staple fibers and cotton staple fibers intertwine, with each strand being either pure polyester or pure cotton.
Performance: It is the average superposition of two fiber properties and cannot produce new structural effects.
Separation method: Fibers are independent of each other and there is no interface bonding.
Key comparison points
      1. Structure: Composite spinning → Single filament internal two-component; Blended → Mixing between yarns, with single yarns as a single component.
      2. Process: Composite spinning is the process of completing the composite during the spinning stage; Blended fabric refers to the physical stirring and mixing of the spinning/non-woven fabric process after spinning is completed.
      3. Special abilities: Composite spinning can achieve self curling, thermal bonding, ultra-fine islands, and splitting of fragments; Ordinary blends cannot achieve such structural effects.
      4. Interface: Composite spinning has a polymer two-phase interface; Ordinary blends have no interface between components, only the contact surface between fibers.
